Clearly at ease with her current quartet she thrilled the opening night audience with two splendid paced sets which sparkled with invention and vocal skills. Sprinkled among the offerings were a number of the exquisite Brazilian style compositions from her album "Salena sings Jobim with the Jobims" included "Dindi", "Agua de Beber", "Once I Loved" and Micheal Franks's lovely ballad "Antonio's Song", but the real tour de force of her opening set came with a superb rendering of Ellington's "In My Solitude", taken at measured pace and invested with a majesty which few singers could match.
