Salena headed an all-star international bill for their entry in the UNESCO sponsored South East Asia
"Save the Children" telethon. |

The show was broadcast live across South East Asia and, at Nippon Television's request, Salena wrote and performed
"The Song of Life" as the finale for the evening."

invited comparisons with her earlier work. Happily, the comparisons were wholly favourable and, without doubt, Salena
Jones is still one of the finest singers around.
Salena Jones has been described by one writer as "one of the world's greatest jazz singers", and
in contrast by another as "not altogether jazz orientated". The truth is that she is impossible to categorise.
Last Thursday she performed an enormous range of material from blues to ballads, from jazz standards to pop,
and seemed equally at ease with all of it.
