| "..... in an exclusive interview .... we wondered about the
music scene in Europe. Salena explained "Well, outside Britain I find a more versatile music bag in Europe as a
whole - in Holland, Belgium, Austria and Germany. They're not into just one sort of heavy pop, rock, commercial bag:
it's a variety thing in Europe. |
In England I find they categorize you and if they categorize you then it's hard to do anything else. I like to
do everything. I'm a versatile thing. I like to sing jazz, I like to sing pop, I like to sing ballads,
I like to sing all kinds of songs. I don't like to be categorized as a whatever. I just want to be a good singer."
Turning to jazz, Jones said "Jazz is only a feeling. Jazz is only standards sung the way
people feel them, the way they want to interpret the story. People say that Ella and Sarah are jazz singers.
I think it is because these singers don't sing the songs the way they were originally written. They interpret
the songs the way they feel them".
